Indonesian Program
Calwell Primary School has a dedicated Indonesian program run by our specialist Indonesian Teacher, Lyn Nichols.
The Indonesian program runs across the whole school, from kindergarten to year six. Students in Kindergaten and Year 1/2 recieve one 40min lesson per week. Students in grades 3 to 6 recieve two 40min lessons per week.
Each stage studies a different Indonesian topic each term. Topics are based around all aspects of Indonesian life from basic language skills such as colours and numbers, to conversations conducted in Indonesian.
Each Indonesian lesson is conducted in a dedicated classroom, which in itself offers a journey to Indonesia. Parents are encouraged to visit the room, and learn more about the program.
Whole School Indonesian Day
In 2006, Calwell Primary School held it's first whole school Indonesian day. Each teacher designed a lesson about Indonesia, and the students rotated through different activities.
Access Asia
Calwell Primary School is an Access Asia school. Access Asia schools acknowledge the importance of Asia as our local region. As well as our comprehensive Indonesian program, each year a unit of work on Asia is taught.
