Calwell Primary School Relational Policy

Principles

The principles that underpin our relational policy are:

  1. We build and expect respectful relationships between all members of our school community.
  2. Our environment is welcoming, safe, inclusive and considerate of all members of the school community.
  3. Our school is a community of lifelong learners.
  4. Effective partnerships are developed through shared understandings.

Principle and Behaviour Plan

All issues that cause harm in our school communities will always be addressed.  These include but are not limited to:

  • Physical Violence
  • Verbal Abuse
  • Bullying and/or harassment
  • Unsafe behaviour

It is our belief that these issues cause harm and restorative processes will be implemented to repair the harm and rebuild relationships.

Implicit within this document is that teachers have a responsibility for strengthening relationships in the school community; assisting students to resolve their difficulties; repairing relationships between students, with themselves and for re-entering students into the classroom.  Parent/carers are partners in this process and will be informed of any pattern of behaviour that causes a concern within the school and will be involved in the process to address this.
