Resource Centre

The school’s Resource Centre (library) is a reference and recreational centre for students, teachers and parents.  The programs and services offered are an integral part of the curriculum and provide a focus for developing information technology skills in learning and teaching across the whole school.

The Resource Centre is open during school hours as well as before school from 8.40 - 9.00am and at lunchtimes.  It contains an extensive collection of books and printed material as well as audiovisual and computing facilities.  This enables students and staff to access information from a wide variety of sources.  All classes in the school visit the Resource Centre regularly so that students have the opportunity to develop information literacy skills as well as a critical appreciation of literature.  Books may be borrowed during regular weekly class visits, before school and at lunchtimes.   Parents are also welcome to borrow books on their own behalf.

Computers in the Resource Centre

There are 3 inquiry computer work stations available to access materials within the Resource Centre.  Internet access is also available from all computers under the supervision of class teachers.  A computer lab of 18 networked computers, currently running Windows 2000 is located in the Resource Centre.   All classes have regular visits to develop students’ information technology skills.
