Camps, Excursions and Visits

Students are able to participate in a range of excursions, visits and camps to enhance the classroom learning program.  These are selected and organised each year depending on the relevance to class programs and are subject to cost considerations and the availability of staff.  Students attending share the costs associated with these activities.  In circumstances where parents have difficulty with the money involved they are asked to contact the Principal so that individual students are not denied valuable learning experiences.

School Band

The school has both a Year 5 and a Year 6 brass band.  Students who have not previously learnt an instrument may audition to join the 24 member band at the beginning of Year 5.   Students who accept an offer of a place must be prepared to give a 2 year commitment to the band.  An annual fee is charged to cover the cost of instrument hire from the ACT Department of Education’s Instrumental Music Program.  As part of this program students receive two weekly music/band instruction lessons.  One of these is taught by the Department’s Instrumental Band Teacher and the other by our school band coordinator.
