Parents & Citizens Association

The Parents & Citizens Association plays an important role within the school and is valued by the school community.  Parents/carers of children attending Calwell Primary are warmly welcomed to join the P&C which strives to:

  • support and promote school interests
  • encourage co-operation and community involvement
  • raise funds
  • provide a forum for parents to discuss educational matters
  • advise parent Board members of the view of the parent body on particular issues
  • gain information from other organizations

General meetings are held once per term, with additional meetings advertised in the Community Newsletter as needed.  The P&C is always ready to welcome new faces, fresh input and ideas.  A Preschool Sub-Committee operates within the P&C.  This group focuses its support on the interests and needs of the preschool unit.

In addition to managing the school canteen, organising school discos and providing valuable assistance with a range of classroom programs, playground and sporting activities,  the P&C runs a number of fundraisers throughout the year.  The major fundraiser for the P&C is the biannual fete held in spring. Proceeds from the fete combined with other fundraising activities provide additional funds to supplement the school's budget.  These funds  enable  a range of programs to continue, expand or commence.
