Calwell Primary School - Fire damage to library

The library building at Calwell Primary School was damaged by fire on the evening of Thursday 21 January 2010.  As the free standing building was undergoing renovations under the Australian Government’s Building the Education Revolution P-21 (Primary Schools for the 21st Century ) program, there has been no loss of library resources as these had been relocated to other areas of the school. The main IT server located in the library and has been severely damaged, however temporary arrangements for IT have been put in place and it is expected that IT will be available ready for the new school year.  There are no school access issues to the school grounds for the students, teachers or school community.

The library is currently a building site under the control of construction manager Project Coordination.
ACT Policing and the ACT Fire Brigade are conducting an investigation and witnesses who may have seen any suspicious persons, vehicles or activity before the fire began are asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppers.com.au
